Irish Bred horse fair well in the Dante Stakes winning 8 of the last 16 renewals from 42 runners for a 19% strike rate. The expected winners based on the prices they were sent off is nearly 5.5 so these 8 winners are 47% above expectations. We have two Irish Bred runners in this years field, Trading Leather and Indian Chef.

In contrast British Bred runners in the Dante have had only 3 winners in the last 16 years from 47 who have tried. That's 54% lower than the expected 6.5 winners. British Bred runners this year are Windhoek, Greatwood, Dashing Star, Secret Number and Libertarian.

In the Dante Stakes, horses coming off a break of 150+ days since their last run (in the UK or IRE) have won 9 of the last 16 renewals from just 37 participants. That's a 25% strike rate and 38% better than expected. Today's Dante has two runners coming off the lengthy break, Trading Leather and Secret Number.

The top trainer with a runner in this years Dante is Aidan O'Brien who in the last 16 renewals has had 4 winners and a further 3 placed horses from just 12 runners. This year he saddles Indian Chief.
