Luck of the Irish
The top claiming jockey in Ireland's 2012 Flat Turf season was Ian Brennan. Record reads :- 13 winners from 115 rides for a 11.3% strike rate and a profit of £174 profit to a £1 level stake at BSP after 5% commission deducted. 26 won or placed for a 23% win and place strike rate. Expected winners 7.4. Ian Brennan won 1.76 more races than expected in the 2012 Irish Flat Turf season.
Headgear Jenius
The top trainer in the 2012 UK Flat Turf season when applying headgear to his charges was J R Jenkins. His record reads :- 10 winners from 48 runners wearing headgear for a 21% strike rate and a £45 profit to a £1 level stake at BSP after 5% commission deducted. 17 won or placed for a 35% win and place strike rate. Expected winners 5.45. John Jenkins won 1.83 more races than expected when applying some any kind of headgear in the 2012 UK Flat Season. Notably his overall strike rate was 12.4% and his strike rate when they run with no headgear was just 8% for a loss of -£52 to Betfair SP. Not so Smart
The trainer with the worst record when applying headgear in the 2012 UK Flat Turf season is Bryan Smart. His record reads :- 2 winners from 77 runners for a 2.6% strike rate. If you layed them all to £1 at BSP you would have made a £61 profit after 5% commission deducted. Expected winners is 6.41. Bryan Smart lost 69% more races than expected when applying headgear. In contrast when no head gear was applied the strike is 9.23% compared to the 2.6% when they are applied.
