Overall Record

Since 1999 there have been 70 runners under evens at the Festival with just over half winning.

By year

In the 10 years from 1999 to 2009 there were only 9 odds-on runners at the festival.

The next 5 years (2010-2014) saw an increase to 15.

Next 5 years (2015-2019) it increases to 18.

And the last 5 (2020-24) years have seen 28 odds-on runners!

Can we make a profit from them?

Results by Trainer

The trainers at the top are not a surprise!

Nicky Henderson’s only odds-on defeat was Shiskin pulling up in the 2022 Champion Chase, with what turned out to be a rare bone condition.

Willie Mullins record is impressive with 21 from 34 but is even morse impressive when you look at the easier to win novice races and the mares hurdle.

Only 6 of them have lost and 3 of them were in command when falling at the last!

Profits

You would have made a profit at SP backing all Nicky Hendersons odds-on runners (+2.80pts) and Willie Mullins runners in novice races or the mares hurdle (+4.24pts).
