4 prime stats for the Pinnacle Stakes
May 30th, 2015The Pinnacle Stakes on the racecard at Haydock is the focus for this week’s blog in which we show images from our horse racing software to highlight five key stats for this fillies and mares event.
One Year Makes a Difference
In the last 12 renewals, winners have been aged 4 (ten), 5 (one) and 6 (one).
Possibly an emerging trend given the sample size of 18 runners, but based on passed results, horses aged 5yo or above are playing second fiddle to 4yo’s.
Recent Form
Horses arriving at Haydock after finishing either 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their previous race have an expectation 71% above normal.
Therefore, if your selection method uses stats to shortlist horses in the race, keep in mind the horses’ last time out position.
Seasonal Debutants
From a population of 21, horses that raced off a break of 150 days have won 5 races which is a performance 51% above normal.
Progressive Horses
The Proform software tools make the task of manipulating horse racing statistics easy for example, if we view the data from the perspective of race classification, horses who raced in a Listed Race prior to the Pinnacle Stakes (26) have won 7 from 12 renewals.
This performance (based on the value of 2.54 in the A/E column) is 154% above normal and indicates horses of this type are being undervalued by the market.
