The jolly gets the jitters in the November Handicap
November 7th, 2014The last rites of the 2014 Turf season are being muttered by National Hunt Racing enthusiasts but before they put the last nail in the coffin, the November handicap at Doncaster becomes the focus of attention for Flat racing fans.
Snow Princess (1995) was the last favourite to win the race at odds of 5/1 so if history repeats itself, the horse that attracts the most attention in the market may not live up to punter expectations.
Using Proform, we analysed the last seventeen renewals of the November Handicap to find that the favourite has placed only once in the last ten renewals.
And as a testament to its competitiveness, the last five winners of the November Handicap were priced at 8/1, 20/1, 8/1, 14/1 and 17/2 so punters who were fortunate enough to find the winner were suitably compensated for their efforts.
Other key trends identifed in the race
