Speed Ratings

At Proform we create a speed rating for every runner in every race when we compile our results on a daily basis. 

Our speed ratings are displayed in a grid and sortable format on the race card in the Proform Professional Form Book and on our Race Guides the Last Time Out static speed figure is used.

We use our own unique standard times which we continually update.
 
From the base speed ratings we then generate a set of static speed ratings and a set of dynamic speed ratings.
 
Dynamic Speed Ratings
When viewing form in our form book software you can see dynamic speed ratings on the race card, which are :-

  • The Highest Achieved Speed rating the horse as produced in it’s career.
  • The 2nd Highest Achieved Speed rating the horse as produced in it’s career.
  • The Median Speed rating the horse as produced in it’s career.
  • The Average Speed rating the horse as produced in it’s career.
  • The Median Speed rating the horse as produced in it’s last X amount of runs.
  • The Average Speed rating the horse as produced in it’s last X amount of runs.
  • The Last Time Out Speed rating the horse achieved.

 
These are all dynamically worked out using the past speed ratings each horse ran to in each of it's races and displayed in a grid and sortable format on the race card in the Proform Professional Form Book.
 
However that's not all, because they are dynamically calculated you can filter the form within our form book based on conditions similar to today's race.
 
Once you apply your filters the dynamic speed ratings automatically re-calculate and re-display on screen.
 
For instance, let's say the race you are looking at is a 1m 4f flat race and you want to see which horses have the best speed ratings over this distance.  You quickly setup a filter for the distance, apply it and the dynamic speed ratings shown are all based on races which match your set filter.
 
We are sure you can already think of many powerful ways the speed ratings in conjunction with filters can provide you with an edge that the ordinary punter can only dream of.  Using the speed ratings and our unique form book and filtering tools will provide you with that edge.
 
 
Static Speed Ratings
We also provide a set of static speed ratings.  These are speed ratings which have already been filtered using a set of strict rules, which are :-
 
They only look at non zero speed ratings.
They only look at form which matches today's race type.
Some of them only look back at speed ratings achieved in the last 1 year.
 
The list of static speed figures held are :
 

  • The Highest Achieved Speed rating the horse as produced in it’s career.
  • The Highest Achieved Speed rating the horse produced in the last year.
  • The Median Speed rating the horse as produced in it’s career.
  • The Median Speed rating the horse as produced in the last year.
  • The Median Speed rating the horse as produced in it's last 3 runs.
  • The Last Time Out Speed rating the horse achieved.
  • The 2nd Last Time Out Speed rating the horse achieved.
  • The 3rd Last Time Out Speed rating the horse achieved.
  • The 4th Last Time Out Speed rating the horse achieved.

 
The beauty of having a set of static speed ratings is you can query them in our system builder to find profitable angles.
